Erik Van De Steeg
September 1967 – April 2018
Erik Van De Steeg founded Van De Steeg & Associates in 1999 and managed it until his death in April 2018. He had a vision for the company. After successfully establishing a firm foundation in the Edmond / Oklahoma City area as a premier roofing company, he had his sights set on opening a satellite office a little closer to the heart of his personal life. He and Roxanne shared the love of diving in Cozumel and being together at the lake house on Monkey Island near Grove, OK. So… he trained his core staff to run his business his way… in his presence or in his absence, so that he was free to go to the lake or diving as often as was possible, without having to worry about how things were going at the office. Roxanne depends on us now to carry on the business for her, as he instructed and with the same commitment to quality and same standard of excellence he instilled in us.
We do what we do… for them…. for his memory …. and to ensure the future he wanted for her.
When they were together… they always had those smiles… always.
Dianna Lord is the glue that keeps us together from administrative duties, to nurturing us all. She multitasks to keep the operations running smooth, and oversees managing all aspects and tasks involved in the company. Dianna handles all client and professional interaction with grace and class. She is the office manager, marketing manager, chief cook and bottle washer, cat herder and “mom” to the rest of the team. As the rest of us she wears a lot of hats. She originally came to the team in 2015 as a favor to answer the phones for a “day or two” … that first day was April fool’s day.. guess what .. they were only kidding.. she is still here! Erik wouldn’t let her leave and he kept her very busy… and she still is! If it happens around here… she is generally in the middle of it! So if you want to know something … call Dianna … if she doesn’t know.. she will find out for you, and if she can’t fix it… she will find out who can. One way or the other, she will make sure you are happy before she’s done. She is married to the love of her life John, since 1984.
Mike has been with Van De Steeg since 2009. He has over a quarter century of experience in construction and Project Management, and is a brilliant craftsman. He was Erik’s “go to guy” for whatever needed to be done. Mike has been a firefighter since 2004, and we always joked that he was Erik’s personal firefighter… if there was a “fire” to put out, a problem to be solved, something that needed to be checked or fixed or figured out… Erik always said.. “call Mike Todd.” And.. we always did. In addition to being his ‘go to guy’, salesman, Mr fix it, firefighter, peacemaker and so on, he and Erik were best friends. Mike is a really funny guy and Erik loved to laugh.. so it was not uncommon to hear hysterical laughter coming from the office when Mike came in … and almost always when Mike would leave, you would hear Erik say ” love you buddy” .
Erik left instructions for Mike to lead the company into the future, knowing that he could always count on Mike Todd to get the job done efficiently, expertly and with the utmost integrity. And, of course.. he does not disappoint… since Erik’s death in 2018, Mike has and will continue to honor Erik’s memory, and lead the company with the utmost respect for the founder… and to make sure Erik’s good name will continue to be a name of honor in the roofing industry. Mike is married to his beautiful high school sweetheart, Kristen and they have 2 incredible children. We are very thankful to have the leadership skills Mike brings to the table.
