Roof For the Cure
December 2, 2013 5:07 pmWith Christmas around the corner, it’s hard not to think of snowfall, holiday lights, and a warm fire. Although those might seem like pleasant images, is your roof up for the challenge of the season? Snowfall can cause serious damage, holiday lights can prove to be a struggle, and your chimney may be on its last legs. Before you shrug this off your to-do list, take a closer look at why you may need to be worried:
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, this winter is gearing up to be a long and gruesome one full of bitterly cold temperatures and winter storms. It’s no secret that heavy snowfall and ice dams can seriously damage your roof, and it may be worse if you’re already spying a few loose shingles or signs of a leak. While it may seem tempting to cross your fingers that the predictions are wrong, it’s safer to plan as though they’ll be right.
While white-capped houses seem perfectly picturesque for the season, it couldn’t be farther from the truth. Although snowflakes seem dainty as they’re falling, they quickly become heavy as they pile onto your roof. On top of the structural damage it may cause, the melting snow can also lead to leaks and interior damage, or even a complete collapse. If your roof was already looking a little damaged prior to the season, the snow and ice certainly won’t help.
Unfortunately, your roof can’t fix itself, and it’s only going to get worse with time. If a free roof inspection confirms that it needs replaced, you may be getting ready to give up altogether. After all, holiday season is expensive enough without adding a new roof into the mix. So why not give a little while you’re getting?
With Roof For the Cure, we’re donating a portion of the proceeds from your new roof to the Susan G Komen Foundation in Central and Western Oklahoma. While October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to keep giving all year long. Regardless of the roof you choose, you’ll be giving a little extra this holiday season!
Even though giving feels great, replacing your roof doesn’t need to be a yearly occurrence! Help your roof weather the seasons by installing weather-protectant sealants and staying on top of minor repairs. Even minor details, like cleaning your gutters, helps your roof stay healthy throughout the year. Don’t forget to contact us—we’d love to help!
